Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, sat twice on Tuesday for a meeting separately with the committees of both Durga Utsav and Vishwakarma puja celebration.

Keeping in view the rising positive cases in Dima Hasao, Deputy Commissioner in presence of Superintendent of Police and joint health director informed that it is advisable to restrict the number of puja pandals keeping in view of no crowding at the venues.

During the meeting with the Durga puja committees, it was suggested that this year Durga puja will be held only at the temples, unlike other years.

An order regarding this will be issued officially after the decision is finalized.

Similarly, restrictions regarding the Vishwakarma puja will also be chalked out.

Separate advisories for the upcoming festival season will be given as the number of COVID-19 cases is rising across the country including in Dima Hasao.

As per the latest update yesterday the total number of active cases admitted in Haflong Civil Hospital had risen to 103 with two patients referred outside due to complications.

Others present during the meeting were ADC Dipak Jidung, Asst commissioners, DPO DDMA, and other departmental officers and committee members.
