Darrang district on Friday registered another COVID-19 fatality, taking the district’s overall tally to three.

The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Jonaki Deka, who was a resident of Borathiabari village.

She tested positive for COVID-19 after her death. Deka died on Thursday night at her residence.

Official sources informed that the deceased had earlier been undergoing treatment in the GMCH for Japanese Encephalitis and was discharged on July 17.

However, her health deteriorated suddenly on Thursday night and before she could be taken to the hospital she expired.

Later, a test of her body detected COVID 19. Her son has also tested positive.

Meanwhile, the overall COVID-19 cases in the district rose to 804 till Friday as 60 more cases detected in the district in the last three days.
