The Northeast Frontier Railway has deployed 21 Covid care isolation coaches at the Guwahati Railway Station to facilitate treatment to COVID-19 patients, said an NF Railway official.
The isolation coaches are equipped with essential medical facilities which can provide necessary medical aid to patients infected with the virus, said NFR CPRO Subhanan Chanda.
On the other hand, 20 other rail coaches, which will work as COVID care centres have been deployed at Badarpur near Silchar in Assam.
These coaches are equipped with 350 oxygen beds, he said.
Earlier this week, 19 isolation coaches were deployed at Sabarmati, Chandlodiya and Dimapur respectively.
On Wednesday, the Assam government had urged the NFR to prepare 150 COVID care coaches at various locations across the state.
The Railways have made a fleet of nearly 4,000 isolation coaches with almost 64,000 beds to serve as isolation units across the states.
