Ten persons from Nagaon, eight from Kamrup (Metro), seven from Cachar, one each from Hojai and Dima Hasao, and two each from Karimganj and Hailakandi districts of Assam tested positive for COVID-19 as 33 new cases were freshly reported in the state on Thursday afternoon.
The places of residence of two patients among the 33 new cases are yet to ascertained, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed in a tweet.

With these new cases, the total cases in Assam rose to 831.
There are 737 active cases and 87 people have recovered so far, while four persons have died of the infection so far.
Earlier on the day, the health minister reported about 15 positive cases.
A total of 48 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported from Assam on Thursday till the filing of this report and the number is expected to rise later on the day.
