Ten more patients succumbed to COVID-19 in Assam on Friday, taking the state’s overall death tally to 721.
The deceased have been identified as Babu Deka (42) of Sivasagar, Kalpana Dutta (45) of Sivasagar, Mrinal Kumar Barman (58) of Lakhimpur, Ali Hussain (58) of Kamrup (metro), Liyakat Ali (56) of Kamrup (Metro), Dinesh Das (55) of Goalpara, Cheniram Gogoi (80) of Sivasagar, Farida Begum (54) of Lakhimpur, Ratan Kr Das (53) of Dibrugarh and Sidananda Das (76) of Sivasagar.

Meanwhile, 1416 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Assam on Friday out of a total of 28301 tests conducted.
The positivity rate of the state now stands at 5 per cent.
Of the total cases, 445 cases were detected from Kamrup (M), 110 from Jorhat, 103 from Dibrugarh, and 101 from Golaghat.
With these new cases, Assam’s total cases reached to 183,812 and so far a total of 1,47,519 patients have recovered from the infection so far.
The state now has a total of 35569 active cases.
