Eight more people succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday in Assam, taking the state’s overall death tally to 802, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed in a tweet.
The deceased include Biswajit Gogoi (47) from Sivasagar, Tarun Gogoi (59) of Dibrugarh, Lakhidhar Lohar (55) of Charaideo, Khirud Dutta (60) of Dibrugarh, Basudev Roy (65) of Kamrup (Metro), Kedar Singh Subba (54) of Sonitpur, Sreeram More (74) of Nagaon, and Gulshan Begum (56) of Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, Assam on Friday recorded a total of 1019 positive COVID-19 cases, taking the states overall tally to 1,92,416.
A total of 31,586 tests were conducted on the day and the day’s positivity rate of Assam stands at 3.22 per cent.
Till the filing of this report, Assam has a total of 31,778 active cases and 1,59,833 patients have recovered so far.
