The total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam rose to 2153 on Friday afternoon after 38 patients tested positive for coronavirus across the state.
In a tweet, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that of the 38 patients, 13 are from Darrang district, 9 from Dima Hasao district, 7 from Nagaon district, 5 from Sonitpur and two each from Hailakandi and Karimganj districts.

With these, the total number of active cases in Assam rose to 1687.
So far 4 patients have succumbed to COVID-19 in Assam while 489 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
The state witnessed a rise of 285 cases on Thursday- the highest single-day spike so far.
