Assam recorded its third COVID-19 death after a 71-year-old patient admitted in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) died on Monday morning, informed health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The patient- Gopindra Chandra Malakar- had returned from Mumbai and was suffering from neck cancer along with COVID-19.

He died owing to respiratory disease, Sarma further informed.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Assam now stands at 102 with three deaths, 56 active and 41 patients being discharged from hospital.
Extremely sad to share that Gopindra Ch Malakar 71, who returned from Mumbai & had neck cancer + Covid + passed away at 11.05 am at GMCH owing to respiratory distress. Doctors did their best. DME has reached & DC informed for other formalities.
