Covid-19: 90 new cases reported in Assam, state tally reaches 2,243

Assam reported 90 new positive cases of Covid-19 on Friday night, after which, the state’s total tally has climbed to 2,243, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Of the new cases, 37 have been reported from  Dhubri, 15 from Dima  Hasao, seven from  Karimganj, seven each from Cachar and Baksa, six from  Hailakandi, three from Udalguri, two each from South  Salmara and Dhemaji and one  each Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Chirang districts.

Confirming the report, Minister Sarma in a tweet said, “Alert ~ 90 new cases of #COVID19+   37 Dhubri, 15 D Hasao, 7 K’ganj, 7 Cachar, 7 Baksa, 6 H’kandi, 3 Udalguri, 2 S Salmara, 2 Dhemaji, 1 each Nalbari/Barpeta/Bongaigaon/Chirang Total cases 2243  Recovered 509  Active cases 1727  Deaths 04  11:05 PM/June 5/Day’s total 128”

Assam currently has a total of 1,727 cases of the novel coronavirus.  The state reported 128 cases till 11.00 PM on Friday.

A total of 509 positive patients have been discharged from hospitals after full recovery.
