A total of 16 persons succumbed to COVID-19 in Assam on Friday, taking the state’s overall tally to 430.

The deceased have been identified as Priyanka Upadhyay (24) of Dibrugarh, Tulsiram Prajapati (50) of Kamrup (Metro), Bhabendra Prasad Bora (60) of Nagaon, Mahesh Kumar Ajitsaria (54) of Nagaon, Krishna Chatterjee (75) of Kamrup (Metro), AR Jajodia (77) of Kamrup (Metro), Nurul Islam (80) of Morigaon, Paritosh Sarkar (52) of Lakhimpur, Gautam Devnath (32) of Sonitpur, Basanti Bala Paul (75) of Cachar, Promod Das (62) of Krimganj, Tapu Nath (21) of Karimganj, Prabin Kumar (58) of Kamrup (Metro), Dipali Gogoi (60) of Dibrugarh, Rafida Begum (65) of Sivasagar, and Nikunjalata Bhuyan (75) of Nagaon.

This was informed by the state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.

 

Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 cases in Assam rose to 138339 on Friday with the state recording a total of 2534 new cases out of 36,431 tests conducted.

The positivity rate of the state now stands at 6.96 per cent.

Among the new cases, Kamrup (Metro) recorded 588 cases, Jorhat reported 194 cases, Dibrugarh recorded 172 cases and Dhenaji recorded 153 cases.

So far 105701 patients have recovered in the state of the infection and there are a total of 32205 active patients in the state.
