Students of Cotton University have decided to boycott classes for an indefinite period in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Cotton University Students’ Union (CUSU) general secretary Pranjal Kalita has appealed to the students of all the colleges of the state from Sadiya to Dhubri to boycott classes from Wednesday as a mark of protest against the Bill.

CUSU general secretary Kalita in a statement condemned the BJP government’s move to pass the bill in the parliament.

The Lok Sabha has passed the Bill by voice vote on Tuesday. The controversial bill will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
