IPL matches in Guwahati are likely to be called off in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. There are reports that the tournament will most probably be postponed.

BCCI sources informed that with restrictions imposed on the entry of foreigners, the 13th Indian Premier League (IPL), which was scheduled to start on March 29, is likely to be postponed.

“No foreign player will be available until April 15 due to the restrictions imposed on the travel of foreigners. This is likely to impact the start of the league,” sources added.

“Foreign players travel with Business Visa and the government has imposed a ban on business visas till April 15,” sources added.

If the tournament is pushed back then the Rajasthan Royals’ scheduled matches in Guwahati on April 5 (against Delhi Capitals) and April 9 (against Kolkata Knight Riders) will also be cancelled.

“IPL’s governing council will meet on Saturday and the fate of the tournament will be decided in the meeting,” the sources said.
