Assam filmmaker Rima Das on Saturday contributed Rs 1.01 lakh to the state government’s coronavirus relief fund Assam ArogyaNidhi.
“Any amount of money can be helpful in this period of crisis. With this thought, I have contributed Rs 1, 01,000 to Assam ArogyaNidhi. This way we can help the Assam government in tackling the coronavirus pandemic. I pray that the whole world gets free from this crisis soon,” Rima said in a Facebook post.
Singer Zubeen Garg and actor Jatin Bora have earlier contributed Rs1 lakh each to the chief minister’s relief fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa on Saturday said that 7123 have contributed about Rs 15 crore so far to the Assam ArogyaNidhi fund.
“I am grateful to these 7123 people who have generously helped Govt of Assam by donating about Rs15 cr so far in Assam ArogyaNidhi for combating #COVID19Pandemic. Requesting everyone to do your bit as we have now reached a critical phase. Thank you,” he tweeted.
Several politicians cutting across party-line, entrepreneurs, government employees and others have already started contributing for the purpose.
