Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta on Wednesday said the construction work of the cancer hospital in North Lakhimpur will be completed by December this year.

Built under the Assam Cancer Care Foundation in association with Tata Trust, the cancer hospital is one of the ten such hospitals being constructed to provide relief to cancer patients of the state at affordable prices.

The Assam health minister was accompanied by Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah and the director of medical education (DME), Dr Anup Kumar Barman.

After visiting the construction of the hospital, health minister Mahanta reviewed the progress of the work.

The minister also had a meeting with the district health officials of Lakhimpur.

The principal and chief superintendent of Lakhimpur Medical College, Dr Anup Kumar Das, joint director of health services Dr Mahendra Das, CEO of Lakhimpur Zila Parishad Tripurendra Patar, ADC Gitali Duwarah and other officials attended the review meeting with the minister.
