Guwahati: As voting for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections continues in Assam, an internal clash within the BJP leaders has surfaced.

Assam BJP leader and MP Dilip Saikia slammed senior BJP leader Ashok Sharma saying that he needs a “mental check-up”.

He also accused him of anti-party activities.

Saikia claimed that Ashok Sharma had been damaging the BJP’s image in front of the people.

“I condemn Ashok Sharma’s anti-party activities. Several party workers have been serving the party for years with nothing in return but Sharma is playing a standard role”, he added.

He further accused Ashok Sharma of conspiring against him during the recent elections in Assam.

“I have evidence that Ashok Sharma indulged in anti-campaigning against me recently. Similarly, in the 2011 elections, he took Rs 2 lakh from my opponent to ensure that I lose the elections”, he alleged.

He added that he informed the Assam BJP leadership about Ashok Sharma’s activities regarding his activities.

Ashok Sharma in the morning indirectly criticized the state government citing the massive amount of loans taken in recent months.

He said that youngsters should keep an eye on the massive debt that is increasing in the state day by day.

Sharma further claimed that just like families fall into pieces owing to the debt, a state may fall due to the debts.

BJP MLA from East Guwahati Siddhartha Bhattacharya stated, “Everyone has differences and grievances. However, they should be solved within the confinements of the party. Making such statements on polling day and that too in public does not seem right.”

He said that both of them should have approached the leadership of the BJP rather than making their statements public.

He, however, did not name either.
