Childline coordinator Nirmal Deka said the rescued children include two 12-year-old boys, two 12-year-old girls and a 16-year-old girl.
“We had intervened altogether seven child-related cases in the last seven days. All of them were shifted to a shelter home. They all came to the city before announcement of the lockdown,” Deka said.
He said the children, three girls and two boys, are from Karimganj, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Chirang and Barpeta.

“We could contact only a family member of the 12-year-boy from Sivasagar. Moreover, Childline received calls related to Covid-19 and precautions and measures taken for it,” he added.
The Childline team has been working collectively with the district administration, police and the Health department, among others, to tackle child-related cases.
“We urge the people to use the Childline toll-free helpline (1098) in case they come across any child-related cases,” he further said.
