Born in the heart of Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin holds the distinction of being the east India’s only craft gin made with purified rainwater and a blend of 12 botanicals native to the Northeast region.
The brainchild of a master distiller in collaboration with a Dutch counterpart, this gin is a carefully crafted fusion designed to be enjoyed neat, with its local character appealing to a global audience.
Sustainability is at the core of their approach to distilling, bottling, and sourcing. They utilize rainwater instead of groundwater, source local botanicals, and reduce energy consumption by 70% with advanced stills from the Netherlands.

Finally, the gin comes in a reusable steel bottle instead of glass. This eco-conscious approach is revolutionizing the craft spirits industry.
“We envisioned a gin that reflects our unique heritage while being enjoyed by everyone. We source and process these rare botanicals ourselves because there’s no existing supply chain. These ingredients have never been used in gin before, making our product truly one-of-a-kind,” said Mayukh Hazarika, CEO & Founder.
From Kaji Nemu (Assam) and Khasi Mandarin (Meghalaya) to smoked tea (Manipur), cardamom (Sikkim), and juniper berries from the Eastern Himalayas, Cherrapunji Gin captures the essence of the Northeast’s rich terroir.
The beautifully illustrated bottle by Portland-based designer Reshidev RK showcases the vibrant life of Cherrapunji. Images of a mandarin picker, a colonial-era Bedford bus, a red panda, bamboo forests, and monoliths all come together to depict this charming, rain-kissed town.
The innovative bottle is crafted from military-grade stainless steel, a highly recyclable material chosen to minimize the gin’s carbon footprint. Weighing just 158 grams, the bottle is not only reusable but also lighter than traditional glass counterparts.
Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin is now available for purchase across Assam.
