Another brave heart from Assam has been martyred in the deadly encounter that took place between the security forces and the naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur.

The martyred CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) jawan from Assam has been identified as Dilip Kumar Das.

Dilip Kumar Das hailed from Sarupeta in Bajali district of Assam.

A pall of gloom has descended upon the entire village in Assam from where martyred Dilip Kumar Das hailed.

Dilip Kumar Das leaves behind his wife and two daughters.

Dilip Kumar Das had joined the CRPF in 2001.

Notably, another CRPF jawan from Assam – Bablu Rabha was cremated at his native place at Dudhnoi in Assam’s Goalpara district on Monday morning.

At least 23 security personnel were killed and another 33 sustained injuries in an encounter with the naxals in the forests of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

A fierce gun battle had raged in the jungles of Bijapur for hours on Saturday.

Bullet-ridden and stabbed bodies of security personnel were scattered in an area of over 1 kilometre.

One of the jawans, who survived in the encounter, narrated the ordeal saying that the troops were surrounded and attacked by over 400 naxals.
