In a shocking incident, a minor girl from Charaideo district was allegedly kidnapped and raped for three days at North Guwahati in Kamrup (Rural) district.
According to information, the victim is a student of Class X and hails from Borhat Tea Estate of Charaideo district.
The incident came to light when the victim went to North Guwahati PHC for treatment in a poor health condition on Monday and was unable to talk properly what had happened to her.
Talking to Northeast Now, Kamrup (Rural) Childline Co-ordinator Erani Boro said, “The medical officer at North Guwahati PHC on suspicion immediately informed us and we in co-operation with a team of North Guwahati Police Outpost took her from the PHC.”
Boro informed that the victim, who appeared in test examination of Class X recently, left home on November 1 and went to Namrup from where she travelled to Guwahati by train and arrived at Guwahati Railway Station on November 2.
Boro added, “As per our information, she was roaming at the Guwahati Railway Station when one Dev Das met her and took her to Kamakhya Temple. Later, according to the victim, Dev had taken her to his rented house in North Guwahati near GNRC hospital where he had sexually assaulted her for three days.”
The in-charge of North Guwahati Police Outpost, RK Borah, told Northeast Now that the victim has so far failed to provide details about the person against whom she has brought the allegation of raping for three days at a rented house.
Borah said, “Even when we took her to some houses near the GNRC hospital, she could not identify the exact location where she was allegedly raped.”
Borah informed that the victim has been sent to the ‘Kalyani Nivas’, a shelter home at Rupnagar in Guwahati.
“The victim would be sent for further medical examination on Tuesday,” Borah said.
No FIR has been lodged against the alleged rapist till now.
Police informed that the FIR is likely to be lodged on Tuesday.
“Further investigation is on,” said the police official.
