The Press Club, Jorhat has decided to preserve the chair on which ex-Assam CM Tarun Gogoi had sat during his visit to the Club in 2009.

The wooden chair was donated by Rubul Chandra Dutta, a resident of Gazpuria Gaon and member of Jorhat town Congress Committee.

The chair was made as Tarun Gogoi had to sit upright due to back pain.

The chair has now been given a makeover with the Ex-Assam Chief Minister‘s enlarged photo being pasted to the back and details of its history written and pasted on the seat.

President of Press Club, Jorhat – Shankab Kaushik Baruah said that the Club will remain forever indebted to Late Tarun Gogoi as it was during one of his tenures as Chief Minister that land was allotted for the Club at Jail Road, Jorhat.

Later, Tarun Gogoi had also donated Rs 25 lakh for construction of the double storeyed building of the Press Club.
