The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested an Assistant Manager of North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a complainant.
A case was registered under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on a complaint alleging that the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC), a government of India Undertaking under Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER) awarded a two-year contract to complainant’s firm in October, 2017 for running a restaurant in Delhi Haat at INA.

It was also alleged that the complainant closed the restaurant on February 9 this year and informed the same to NERAMAC that due to losses, he was unable to continue with the said contract. It was further alleged that the Assistant Manager of NERAMAC demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for not blacklisting the complainant’s firm and also assured the complainant to levy minimum penalty on his firm due to premature withdrawal.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh as advance payment from the complainant. Searches have been conducted at the premises of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
On Friday the arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.
