Campaigning for the third phase of Assam Assembly elections ended on Sunday.

The third phase will the last phase of Assam Assembly elections.

A total of 40 seats will go to polls on third phase of Assam Assembly elections on April 6.

The third phase of Assam Assembly elections will witness a neck-to-neck contest between the Congress-led Grand Alliance and the BJP-led NDA.

The 40 seats which will go to polls on Tuesday (April 6) are spread across 16 election districts and are located in Lower Assam and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

In the third phase of Assam Assembly elections, the BJP is contesting in fewer seats, and left out most of the seats to its alliance partners.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress and AIUDF are confident of winning the maximum number of seats in both the second phase and third phase of Assam Assembly elections.

KEY SEATS IN THIRD PHASE OF ASSAM ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS

Jalukbari: Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is contesting from the Jalukbari seat. He has consistently won the constituency since 2001.

Patacharkuchi: Assam State BJP president Ranjeet Dass is contesting from this seat.

Chaygaon: Sitting Congress MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed is re-contesting from Chaygaon. He is contesting against the AGP’s Dr Kamala Kanta Kalita, who had won this seat four times in the past.

Sarukhetri: Kalpana Patowary, an Assamese folk singer, is contesting on AGP’s ticket. She is up against sitting MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar from the Congress.

Chapaguri: Urkhao Gwra Brahma, a Sahitya Akademy Award winner, is contesting on the UPPL ticket. The UPPL is in alliance with the ruling BJP.
