The Northeast Students’ Organisation (NESO) has stated that it would observe Saturday (December 11) as “black day” across the region in protest against the citizenship amendment act (CAA).
“Government of India… had passed the draconian law on December 11, 2019. This observation is to give a message to the Government of India that the people of the Northeast are against the Act,” NESO chairman Samuel Jyrwa said on Friday.
The NESO has called upon the people of the Northeast to support observation of December 11 as “black day” and keep fighting for the “just cause”.
The NESO chairman said that members of the students’ body “will display black flags and banners at all the important locations of the seven states.”
