BTC to celebrate Bardwi Shikhla Festival in May

The Bodoland Territorial Council  has decided to celebrate the Spring Festival or Bihu or Bwisagu as ‘Bardwi Shikhla Festival’ in a grand manner.

The purpose of celebrating this festival is to foster, strengthen and bring mutual understanding between the people in the area.

The BTC Authority has already started its preparations including making the programme schedule.

According to the programme, the Bardwi Shikhla Festival will be celebrated with two days-programme on May 5-6 at BTC Secretariat Field at Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar.

BTC Executive Member Doneswar Goyary will inaugurate the festival which will be  followed by a cultural programme.

Bodo Sahitya Sabha President Taren Boro will inaugurate the cultural programme on the second day. While, the Asom Sahitya Sabha president Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi and AASU advisor Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharjya will attend the programme as Chief Guest and Appointed Speaker respectively.

Cultural groups of various communities of BTC area, outside the BTC area including other Autonomous Councils  like Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao will take part in the programme.

The BTC Principal Secretary Biren Chandra Phukan has called upon all the people of the state irrespective of religion, caste or creed to witness the best of Bihu or Bwisagu festival celebrated under the aegis of BTC authority.
