Kokrajhar as well as the entire Bodo heartland of Assam is abuzz to celebrate 16th Bodoland day on Saturday.
The day-long celebration will be held centrally with varied programmes at Bodofa Nwagwar and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Secretariat field.

Preparations at both the venues are almost complete.
The venues will host more than 25,000 people from the four districts of BTC, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri, apart from other parts of the State. Saturday’s programme will begin at 6 am in the morning.
A cultural rally will be taken out at 6 am followed by offering tributes to the martyrs of Bodoland.

This will be followed by offering tributes to the bust of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma at the BTC secretariat at 8:40 am and hoisting of the national tricolour at the venue at 9 am.
A cultural extravaganza will kick start the celebrations performed by various ethnic tribes of the region.
An open session is lined up for later in the day. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary disclosed that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora will grace the open session.
Mohilary also said that he will announce several development schemes at the open session.
Meanwhile BTC EM of sports department, Dhaneswar Goiyary, who is also the president of organizing committee said several national and international sports personalities like Phoilau Basumatary, Meenu Basumatary and Jamuna Boro, apart from other prominent personalities bringing glory to Bodo heartland will be felicitated on the occasion.
They will also be awarded cash rewards by the BTC administration.
He also made a clarion call to all of the residents of Bodo heartland to join the celebrations. He also urged all organizations and parties not to call any shutdown on Saturday for smooth celebration of the day.
