The Director General of Assam Kuladhar Saikia on Thursday visited the site of the boat capsize incident that occurred at Aswaklanta Ghat, the northern bank of river Brahmaputra in North Guwahati on Wednesday.
The State DGP took stock of the situation and the search operations going on in the river Brahmaputra for the bodies of the passengers, who have gone missing after the mishap.
The personnel of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Indian Army have been deployed in the search operation.
Informing about his visit to the mishap site, State DGP Saikia in his Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “Visited Aswaklanta Ghat and took stock of the situation and rescue efforts for the capsized boat in Brahmaputra. Search operations are being carried out jointly by NDRF HQ, SDRF, Army/Navy and Assam Police.”
The search operation will resume in the morning on Friday.
