The tussle between Assam BJP and its ally BPF turned uglier over the BTC (now BTR) polls with the latter dared the saffron party to hold elections at the earliest.
“The BJP is dreaming to form the government in BTC but practically the party will not dare to hold elections there. If they do, let them hold BTC elections at the earliest,” BPF leader Prabin Boro told reporters at Mushalpur in Baksa district on Monday.
Boro said the BJP leadership is afraid of holding early elections as they have realised their own organisational weaknesses.
The BPF took out a rally with over 2,000 BPF activists from the Mushalpur district BPF office.
The members and supporters of the BPF also took out a protest rally at Bhergaon and Udalguri and rented the air with high pitch slogans against the Assam BJP leaders and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
They pressed for the demand for holding the BTC polls in the month of October, before the expiry of Governer’s rule scheduled to end on October 27.
The party members also submitted memorandum to the State Election Commissioner and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal through the Udalguri DC urging to hold BTC elections in the month of October.
