This time Narendra Modi will be campaigning in Chabua for the AGP candidate from the constituency.

The constituency of Chabua has been left by the BJP for its ally AGP to contest.

AGP, in its first list of candidates had named Poonakon Baruah as its candidate from the Chabua constituency.

It may be mentioned that Chabua will be a tough nut to crack for the AGP-BJP alliance.

Chabua was the epicentre of large scale anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Eastern Assam.

This will be the fourth visit of Narendra Modi to the election-bound Assam in just over a month.

Notably, PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have been visiting election-bound Assam frequently in recent times.

These regular and frequent visits by the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister is being looked into by many as a damage control measure by the BJP and regain faith of the people of Assam ahead of the Assembly elections.
