Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national President Amit Shah arrived at the venue of BJP’s Booth Sabhapati Sanmelan (Booth Presidents’ Conference) in College of Veterinary Science playground, Khanapara in Guwahati on Saturday.
The Booth Sabhapati Sanmelan (Booth Presidents’ Conference) of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) began with the hoisting of the party flag at the College of Veterinary Science playground at Khanapara in Guwahati on Saturday.

The flag was hoisted by Assam BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass who was assisted by BJP’s national General Secretary (Organisation) Ramlal. During the flag hoisting programme, the BJP leaders and activists who were present shouted the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
After the flag hoisting programme, the ‘Banti Prajjalan’ (lighting of lamp) was started by Guwahati MP and former Union Minister Bijoya Chakravarty.
BJP national President Shah was received at the Lokpriya Gopinath Borodoloi International (LGBI) Airport at Borjhar by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Shah will address the Booth Sabhapati Sanmelan (Booth Presidents’ Conference) of the party.
The Sanmelan is being held as a part of the BJP’s preparation for the ensuing Panchayat polls to be held in Assam.
Amit Shah will address 25,849 booth presidents, 303 mandal presidents and 38 district presidents.
Ahead of the Panchayat polls, the conference is being held with an aim to make panchayat bodies ‘Congress-mukt’.
BJP national President Shah will also have interactions with the party Ministers and MLAs of the State at 3 pm and at 5 pm he will also have a meeting with the BJP leaders of the Core Committee at the PWD Guest House in the city at 5 pm.
The BJP President will also have another meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office-bearers.
It may be mentioned that buoyed by its successful strategy in Tripura election, BJP is going to follow ‘Tripura model’ in the coming panchayat polls in Assam.
The party has already appointed ‘Prishtha Pramukhs’ to win the upcoming panchayat polls in the State.
A prishtha pramukh is the in-charge of a page of electoral rolls. He responsibility is to liaison with the all the voters whose names figure in that page.
“On March 24, altogether 3,33,000 prishtha pramukhs will be formally handed over the responsibility of taking care of 60 voters each. Our national president Amit Shah will inaugurate the programme,” State BJP general secretary Dilip Saikia told Northeast Now recently.
The Panchayat polls are a crucial factor ahead of the Lok Sabha elections next year.
