Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Hojai Debashish Dutta on Saturday expressed his willingness to contest at the 2021 Assam Assembly polls from the Hojai constituency.

He was interacting with the reporters after taking part in an awareness-cum-mask distribution programme in the New Market area of Hojai town.

“I have been associated with BJP since 2001. I have been continuously working for the welfare of the party and people,” he said.

“If the state BJP leadership thinks that I am an eligible candidate who can do welfare for the people in a right way in contradictory to the present scenario, definitely they will allow me to contest from here,” he added.

“There has been no development in the Hojai constituency whatsoever,” he further said without naming anyone.
