BJP is functioning like mafia in Assam run by ‘Dritarashtra’ and ‘Shakuni Mama’: Priyanka Gandhi

Top Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, who was in Assam on a two-day visit for election campaigning on Monday sharpened her attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Accusing the ruling BJP-led Government in Assam of running various syndicates, Priyanka Gandhi said that the saffron party in the State is functioning like mafia.

Priyanka Gandhi claimed that the BJP in Assam has two factions – one led by ‘Dritarashtra’ and another by ‘Shakuni Mama’.

Both Dritarashtra and Shakuni are characters from the world’s biggest epic – Mahabharata.

While Dritarashtra was the blind king and Shakuni was a political manipulator in the epic.

Priyanka Gandhi indirectly compared Sarbananda Sonowal with ‘Dhitarashtra’ and Himanta Biswa Sarma with ‘Shakuni Mama’.

“In the Assam Government, there is a Shakuni Mama and a Dritarashtra. Both of them and the BJP have betrayed the people of Assam,” Priyanka Gandhi alleged.

“The ‘Dritarashtra’ who was at one time called ‘Jatiya Nayak’ (people’s leader) betrayed the six ethnic communities in Assam whom he had promised to grant ST status. But did not do so,” Priyanka Gandhi added.

Priyanka Gandhi further alleged that “Shakuni Mama runs a corrupt government that only cheats people”.

Further slamming the BJP for “not fulfilling” its promises made during the last Assembly elections in Assam, Priyanka Gandhi said that Assam do not need a double-engine government with two chief ministers at the realm.

“Assam is in no need for a double-engine government with double chief ministers,” said Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi.
