The Assam Congress has written to the election commission (EC) demanding disqualification of BJP’s Bhawanipur candidate for by-polls – Phanidhar Talukdar.

The Assam Congress demanded disqualification of BJP’s Phanidhar Talukdar for allegedly “indulging in bribery and corrupt” practices.

In the letter to the EC, senior Assam Congress leader Bobbeeta Sharma stated: “It has come to the notice of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee through media reports and video clippings that the BJP candidate for Bhawanipur constituency Sri Phani Talukdar is indulging in bribery and corrupt practices by distributing money to voters outside his residence in Bhawanipur.”
