A massive project undertaken by Duliajan Numaligarh Pipeline(DNP) in partnership with  Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) for providing gas from house to house through a pipeline will cost Rs 4000 crore.

The project is likely to be completed in a period of 18 to 24 months.

A goal of this project is to provide gas in Guwahati and Silchar households through pipelines. This step will be fulfilled after the gas arrives through a pipeline from Barauni to Guwahati and also through a pipeline from Agartala to Silchar.

Apart from partnering with GAIL, DNPL is also planning to partner with a company named OIL MAX which has been allotted an OIL field in Pengeri, for transporting gas from Pengeri to Duliajan.

As of now, their future goal is to provide gas through pipelines to maximum towns of the Northeast India.

DNPL is a joint venture company of Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) and Oil India Ltd (OIL) established in 2007.

DNPL has been transporting natural gas to NRL through Duliajan for years. According to reports, DNPL transported 229.12 million metric standard cubic metres (MMSCM) in 2016-17 and 267.92 MMSCM of natural gas to NRL in 2017-18.

The company’s main focus is to promote education, healthcare, sanitation and environmental protection and they do it through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
