‘Bangladeshi’ netted with fake appointment letter in Guwahati

The Dispur Police in Guwahati arrested a Junior Administrative Assistant of Assam Secretariat on Wednesday for producing fake appointment letter at the time of joining.

As per reports, the accused, Suman Bhattacharjee, who mentioned his address as Ulubari in Guwahati in the appointment letter, originally hails from Comilla in Bangladesh.

The fake appointment letter, which was produced by the accused, was shown as signed by MK Saikia, Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam, Secretariat Administrative (Establishment) Department and Member Secretary, Selection Committee.

Assam Secretariat conducted the recruitment test for filling up around 174 Junior Administrative Assistant posts in the State Secretariat on January 28, 2018.

The incident has drawn attention of the conscious people of the State as most of the political parties and organisations representing various ethnic groups have been protesting against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government’s move to grant Indian citizenship to illegal migrants including Hindu-Bangladeshis.
