India poured their heartfelt tributes to legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika on the occasion of his eighth death anniversary on Tuesday.
A number of people across the nation penned emotional notes across social media sites in memory of the ‘Bard of Brahmaputra’ who died on November 5, 2011.
Bangladesh will hold a three-day cultural programme in memory of the singer who created ripples across the globe with his baritone voice and evergreen songs.
The programe is being jointly organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Byatikram MASDO, a cultural organisation of Assam from Tuesday to Thursday.
The programme will be held at National Music and Dance Centre auditorium of BSA.
The three day event titled ‘Mora Jatri Eki Taronir‘ will feature discussions, song and dance shows.
The event will start with a cultural performance by the artists of India and Bangladesh at 6:30 pm on Tuesday.
The second day of the programme which will feature discussions, songs, dance and theatre shows will also start from 6.30 pm.
During the last day of the programme, BSA and Asam Sahitya Sabha will jointly organize a play titled ‘Kamala Kuyarir Sadhu’ at 7pm.
It may be mentioned that Bhupenda’s songs which have been translated into a number of languages continues to enthrall masses even today.
