The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre of Bangladesh has warned of possible flash floods before the rainy season in Moulvibazar, Sylhet, Habiganj and Kishoreganj of the neighbouring country.
It had also forecast heavy downpour in Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria to have heavy rain on Tuesday.
The Indian Meteorological Department has also forecast heavy rain on Tuesday in West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya – adjacent to Bangladesh.
Mymensingh and Sylhet division, along with other districts – Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Gazipur, Brahmanbaria, Cumilla, Rangamati and Khagrachhari – are likely to experience heavy rain over 89 milimetres with gusty winds on Tuesday, a bdnews24.com report quoted senior meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Md Abdur Rahman Khan as saying.
Met office officials said western low-pressure is hovering over Jharkhand-West Bengal and adjacent areas which has been extended to Assam through northern parts of Bangladesh.
The seasonal low-pressure exists over the southern Bay of Bengal, according to the met office.
