Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran met Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday in Guwahati.

Sources said Imran discussed a range of issues of bilateral interest.

During the discussion, Sonowal flagged issues concerning bilateral trade and commerce for the mutual interest of both Bangladesh and Assam.

While highlighting areas like agriculture, agricultural products, information technology, textiles, etc., Sonowal said both Assam and Bangladesh should work to explore markets in their respective territories for mutual benefit.

Sonowal also said that since Assam is a next-door neighbour of Bangladesh, there should be frequent exchange programmes between both the regions.

He, therefore, advocated improvement of connectivity between Assam and Bangladesh through waterways, airways and roadways.
