It didn’t take much time for Silchar MP Sushmita Dev, to gather her composure, after getting down from the shoulders of one of her party workers in Delhi on Monday when Indian National Congress and the Left brigade, called for a nationwide bandh on the burgeoning fuel prices all over India. Rushing to Silchar on Tuesday, Sushmita Dev leading from the front along with former minister of Assam, Ajit Singh, brought out a rally on Wednesday afternoon on the streets of Silchar, but this time, the call for protest was the Rafale scam that has taken the entire country by storm.
Silchar District Congress Committee (SDCC) and its members protesting against this scam, chanted slogans of throwing out the BJP led government at the Centre.

Upon reaching Khudiram Bose statue, just a stone’s throw away from the Cachar Deputy Commissioner office on a rainy day, Sushmita Dev shouted, “Modi sarkar dhikkar, Narendra Modi dhikkar”. Aptly supported by her party workers, Sushmita in her deliberation before the crowd said that this scam by the NDA led government at the Centre is the biggest deceitful agreement done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, keeping in the dark, his defence minister Nirmala Sitharam, who happens to be a woman”.
Speaking to Northeast Now, Sushmita Dev said, “Today we have brought out a protest rally and you must have seen a model of the plane that we have made. This plane is not an ordinary one, as its price in 2012 was Rs 526 crores and in 2015 he is buying this plane at a price which is three times more at Rs 1670 crores per plane. This is India’s biggest scam.”
She added, “PM Modi has first looted public money by increasing the price of fuel, by demonetizing he has done the same for the poor. Today with all this money he is buying a plane at a price which is three-fold than what it was in 2012. He has helped his friend Anil Ambani with Rs 1,30,000 crore of profit by making an agreement instead of offering the same to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) which has an experience of more than 60 years as compared to Anil Amabani’s Reliance Defence Limited which has an experience of just 12 days.”
