The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed the party’s national vice-president Baijayant Panda as in-charge of Assam while the party’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra has been given the charge of Manipur.
Panda, a former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader, joined the BJP in March 2019.
Additionally, he was a member of parliament in the Rajya Sabha for two terms from 2000 to 2009.
Panda is considered as an important leader of the saffron party who will coordinate with cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
