Gauhati University (GU) will complete all its examinations by September later this year.

Dr Pratap Jyoti Handique, vice-chancellor of GU informed this in a letter addressed to the students.

The vice-chancellor also mentioned that the examinations for all students will be conducted in a mixed-mode, in both online and off-line, following the recent guidelines by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

According to the letter, addressed to students, โ€œthere will be some form of examinations for all levelsโ€.

This could mean that examinations will be conducted for more than 1,500 in-campus students and for students studying in more than 350 colleges affiliated to the university, according to reports.

The UGC guidelines require universities to hold examinations in online, offline, or a โ€˜blended modeโ€™ which mixes both.

The examinations will be conducted in an โ€˜exclusive and student-friendly procedureโ€™, with โ€˜marginal weightโ€™ to the online examinations, Dr Handique said.

โ€œA detailed procedure and calendar of examination will be published immediately on completion of ongoing lockdown in Guwahati. GU plans to complete all examination procedures by September 30, 2020,โ€ the letter said.

The university will restart all pending activities, including admission, start of the new session when the educational institutes are permitted to reopen, the vice-chancellor said.
