The Assam police has tasted a major success in its crusade against drugs mafia in the state.
Heroin, weighing 1.12 kilograms, were seized by the officials of Assam police from Sonapur near Guwahati city late on Saturday night.

The seized heroin has been estimated to be worth over Rs 7 crore in international markets.

The drugs were seized from a Tata Bolero car near the Sonapur Toll Gate.
The heroin consignment (94 packets, each weighing 12 grams) were stuffed into different parts of the car, including the engine compartment, seats, tail lamps, etc.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the drugs were smuggled into Assam from Manipur.

Meanwhile, six persons have been arrested, thus far, in connection with the seizure.
Further investigation is underway to completely take down this drug network.
