Assam’s Covid19 tally and the death toll increased to 2,09,633 and 954 respectively on Wednesday after the state registered 245 new positive cases and 2 more deaths due to the infection.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 status said the news cases were detected out of 27,323 tests.

The Covid19 positivity rate stands at 0.90%, the health minister said.

“245 Cases detected out of 27323 tests conducted today, with positivity rate of 0.90%,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 51 cases.

Meanwhile, 837 more patients, who were earlier infected by Covuid19, have been discharged after recovery.

The recovery rate is 96.98%.

Assam currently has 5,371, which is 2.56% of the total positive cases.

The death rate is 0.45%.

Informing about the demise of two more patients on Wednesday, health minister Sarma said: “Sad to share the demise of two #COVID patients in Assam today.”

The deceased have been identified as Jasoda Gogoi (80) of Dibrugarh and Paresh C Das (73) of Kamrup Metro.

“My deepest condolences & prayers to bereaved families and friends. Om Shanti,” said Sarma.
