Assam’s COVID-19 crisis deepens: 3 deaths, 385 fresh cases detected in 24 hours

COVID-19 scenario in Assam has worsened with as many as 3 deaths owing to the infection were reported on Wednesday. 

While one of the deceased persons hails from Kamrup-Metro district, another hailed from Hojai and one from Dibrugarh.

Assam’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 1122, according to the COVID-19 bulletin released by the Assam Health Department. 

Moreover, Assam has registered 385 fresh COVID-19 cases.  

Of the new 385 new COVID-19 cases, 201 cases have been detected from in and around Guwahati city.

33 cases have been detected from Kamrup-Rural district. 

19 cases have been detected in Dibrugarh district and 22 cases in Cachar district.  

With the detection of these 385 fresh COVID-19 cases, Assam’s active cases tally has risen to 3200.  

These fresh 385 COVID-19 cases were detected in Assam after conducting 30, 065 tests.

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam has also risen to 1.28 percent.

Assam’s COVID-19 cases have been on a gradual rise since April 1.  

The COVID-19 cases in Assam is likely rise further with the Bihu festivities being celebrated across the State.  

However, the Assam Government recently released a fresh set of guidelines for Rongali Bihu and other festivals, in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State.  

The Assam Government rolled out a fresh set of norms for “public gathering” during the Rongali Bihu celebrations and other festivals like Ramadan, Ram Navami, etc.

On the other hand, to keep a check on the spread of COVID-19 in the State, the Assam Government has ordered COVID-19 testing of air travellers upon arrival in any airports in Assam.  

The air travellers will have to undertake both RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test upon arrival in any airport in Assam.  

However, transit passengers need not undertake the COVID-19 testing.
