Assam’s acclaimed director Biswajeet Bora’s film God on the Balcony winning accolades across the globe despite the restrictions imposed due to the Covid1-19 situation.

Adding another feather to the cap, the film has been selected to the prestigious 24thShanghai International Film Festival 2021.

The movie has been selected in the Panorama Section along with eight Indian films including south Indian film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ & South superstar Suriya’s ‘SooraraiPottru’.

The film was also selected for the 21st New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), one of the renowned film festivals of the world, which will be held during June 4-15 virtually because of the Covid pandemic.

The Shanghai International Film Festival will be held from June 11 to June 20 this year.

The film has been resonating not only within India but it has earned the name of its own in many other international film festivals such as the 25th International Film Festival of Kerala, 24th Kolkata International Film Festival, 19th Pune International Film Festival, 20th Imagine India International Film Festival, Madrid & 19th Dhaka International film festival.

In the coming months, God on the Balcony is set to be screened at a few more international festivals.

Over the last year, it has been screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival – where Bora won the Best Director Award in the Indian Language Films category.

The film is produced by Noorul Sultan under Maina productions, God On The Balcony, is inspired by the real-life story of poverty-stricken Dana Majhi from Odisha, who was forced to carry the body of his wife on his shoulders for nearly ten kilometers because the government did not care.

The film stars Harish Khanna, Pranami Bora, Porinandhi Jima Sultana and is set for release in Oct 2021.
