Guwahati: The Zubeen Garg Fan Club will organise a protest demanding justice for the late singer at Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur, at 11 am on Monday, October 12.

Announcing the programme, the clubโ€™s general secretary, Piku Borgohain, appealed to the singerโ€™s admirers and members of the public to gather at the venue and participate in the demonstration.

Zubeen Gargโ€™s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, also shared the announcement on social media, calling for a peaceful protest and a united demand for justice for the singer.

The planned demonstration comes days after the Gauhati High Court granted bail to singer Amritprabha Mahanta, one of the accused in the case concerning Zubeen Gargโ€™s death.

Mahanta is the first of the principal accused directly linked to the core investigation to secure bail. Earlier, two of the singerโ€™s personal security officers had obtained relief in a separate case involving alleged financial transactions.

The public prosecutor had stated that the prosecution was yet to receive the detailed court order explaining the grounds for granting bail.

Mahantaโ€™s release was not immediate, as the bail bond and sureties had to be processed through the fast-track court. With the court proceedings affected by the weekend, the formalities were expected to be completed on Monday.

The fan clubโ€™s proposed demonstration is expected to bring together admirers of the singer to reiterate their demand for justice as the investigation into his death continues.
