Assam: Youth dies of COVID19 in Kokrajhar; district’s positive cases rise to 1,499

Another person has died of COVID19 infection in Kokrajhar district while 74 new positive cases have been detected in the district.

Confirming the news, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Bhaskar Phukan said the person, who has died of COVID19 infection, has been identified as Subhash Sutradhar.

Twenty-eight-year-old Bhaskar was the son of Maya Sutradhar, a resident of Fakiragram village.

Bhaskar, who tested positive for COVID19 on August 24, was admitted to the Covid Care Centre at the nursing college, Besorgaon on August 28.

The patient was a chronic alcoholic with frank psychiatric symptoms.

He was referred to the RNB Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar on Saturday after he showed severe withdrawal syndromes but he succumbed to the infection on the same day.

Meanwhile, Kokrajhar has registered 74 new COVID19 positive cases on Saturday, informed deputy commissioner Phukan.

According to the latest report, 74 samples tested positive for COVID19.

All the positive patients have been shifted to different hospitals like RNB hospital, Serfanguri hospital and Besorgaon Covid Care Centre.

The deputy commissioner said till date, Kokrajhar has reported a total of 1,499 COVID19 positive cases so far.

He informed that around 1,100 COVID19 patients have been discharged from hospitals after their recovery.

The deputy commissioner informed that the reports of additional deputy commissioners Dabeswar Bora and Bhaskar Das have come out negative.

He also informed that the conditions of the superintendent of police Rakesh Roushan, his family and additional deputy commissioner Pranjal Das and his family are improving.
