North Lakhimpur: A couple running a roadside food stall along NH-15 in Assam’s Lakhimpur district were allegedly assaulted by a mob on Monday, with the woman accusing the attackers of stripping her during the incident.

The incident took place at Kona Nadi under the Bogeenadi Police Station area when a group of people allegedly attacked the couple’s roadside stall.

According to allegations made by the victims, the mob ransacked the food stall and physically assaulted both the husband and wife. The woman further alleged that she was stripped by members of the mob during the attack.

Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint at the Chawuldhowa Police Outpost and sought legal action against those responsible.

In her complaint, she named Harakanta Chayengiyah, Tulsi Payeng, Paplu Payeng, Tutu Kaman and Zerifa Kaman as the alleged attackers.

Police are investigating the incident. Further details are awaited.
