Dibrugarh: A 29-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her rented residence in Milan Nagar area of Dibrugarh on Thursday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Babita Das, a native of Assam’s Sivasagar district.
According to family members, Das was found lying unresponsive on a bed inside her room. She was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
“We found her lying on the bed and rushed her to the hospital. The doctors declared her brought dead. She was living in the house with her two sons. Her husband works as a night-super driver. We do not know what actually happened,” her elder sister said.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Officials said it is yet to be determined whether the death was caused by natural reasons or involved foul play. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including allegations of murder.
The woman’s brother has lodged a complaint at the Milan Nagar Police Outpost seeking a detailed investigation into the case.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police said the report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.
