Police have arrested a woman from Narayanpur area in Lakhimpur district for possessing a huge amount of ganja.
The woman, identified as Labanya Bania Bharali, was arrested by Lakhimpur police in a raid conducted in Fakuwagaon village in Narayanpur area on Tuesday night.
“Acting on a tip-off that a large stock of ganja and other narcotic drugs are being supplied to the people in the area, we raided the village and managed to arrest the woman,” said a police official.
Efforts are on to nab her accomplices, said the official.
Police recovered a huge cache of ganja from her possession.
According to police officials, the woman had been involved in illicit drug trade in the area for a long time.
