Assam: Wild elephant tramples man to death near Guwahati

A man has been trampled to death near Guwahati in Assam.

The incident took place near the Rani Reserve Forest, on the outskirts of Guwahati during wee hours of Monday.

The deceased person has been identified as Rajib Boro.

Boro was 34-years-old and was a resident of Palashbari near Guwahati, Assam.

A team of forest officials had rushed to the spot after receiving information.

Boro was immediately shifted to the Rani Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead.

Meanwhile, Assam Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has expressed grief at the demise of Rajib Boro.

There has been an increase in incidents of man-animal conflict in areas surrounding Guwahati in recent times.

Experts believe that encroachment of animal habitats by humans have resulted in rise of such conflicts.
